St. Cirq-le-Popie, France

F.St.Cirq.Le.Popie.4.jpeg

"St. Cirq-le-Popie, Dordorgne, France", ©1999 watercolor, 11.75" x 8.25" inches

This particular region of France is noted for its dramatically situated villages and the prehistoric cave art that has been discovered nearby. It is well documented to have been inhabited by artistically inclined people to 20,000 bce. In the area are the well known cave art sites of Perch Merle, Font du Game and Lascaux. St. Cirq is presently supported on the many tourist who show up to view its wonderful location.  You can still find many areas of the town where you can escape to crowd but you have explore the alleyways and off-beaten paths.  Put on your hiking shoes for the cobblestones.
