"Ularu Grasses", ©1997 Elroy Christenson Since the rock has been returned to the aborigines, the maintainence of the plains is being done on the basis of native practises. This includes the periodic burning of the plains to get rid of obnoxious plants. The burning also helps to revitalize the soil and make it possible for the more delicate grasses to gain a foothold. Virtually every plant here seems to have a sticker and that includes the grasses. A slightly larger version of the panorama of Ularu is viewable here.
