"Jelling Kirke (church) and burial mounds
", ©2016 Elroy Christenson

The Jelling Church marks the burial place of Gorm "The Old" Hardeknudsson (b.835 - d.958 CE). His wife Thrya Klacksdottir was buried in one of the mounds (897- 935).  Gorm set up a stone here to honor her about 950.  His son Harald "Bluetooth" later added another stone here that says that he brought Christianity to Denmark and united the kingdom.  These stones are said to be the birth certificates of Denmark.
