Brahmin priest

The Shiva temple of Sri Ekambarantha Temple in Kancheepuram, India contains this altar to Shiva Natraja or dancing Shiva.  Shiva is the god of death and destruction who brings about renewed birth and creation.  The priest makes offerings of flowers, gee, and coconuts on the part of pilgrims.  He is identifie as a Brahmin by the holy thread that goes across his left shoulder.  Brahmins are known as the priestly class or caste.
