Christenson
Wat Arun is translated as the Temple of the Dawn. It dates back to the period of the Ayutthaya kingdom. when it was called Wat Chaeng. It was probably the royal temple to palace of King Taksin which at that time existed next door. The prang (spire) is 86 meters high and can be seen from the present palace of Wat Pra Keo across the river.
