Galapagos, Ecuador

Galapagos Cactus

"Galapagos, Equador" ©2015 photo Elroy Christenson

The islands of the Galapagos Islands are unique not only for the iquanas but also for the surrealistic landscape on some of the islands.  This particular small island is more like a large rock and had been grazed to near death by goats.  After the removal of the introduced species the island is again thriving with indigenous land iguanas, marine iguanas, and many varieties of sea birds along with sea lions. Careful stewardship with the aid of the Darwin Research Center has helped to bring back the original wildlife.
