The Castelnaud is one of three major castles on the Dordogne.  Chateau de Beynac is at the end of the river to the left and La Roque-Gageac is up the right turn of the river.   The river bend is over dramatized in this composite photo but Castelnaud is very well placed for military advantage.   It presently is rather like a museum and major displays of Medieval armor.
