"Stonehenge with Attitude", ©2006 Elroy Christenson The Stonehenge is a
gigantic celestial calendar and probably dates to the
era of about 2000 bce. Many of the stones were
dragged from about 50 miles away. The circle was
originally made of wooden posts. It is one
of the most enduring monuments of the British
Isles. Tour buses come here by the dozen.
It was possible for years
to walk among the stones but the monument authorities
now forbid that. It does make taking a photo
without tourists in front of the stones much
easier.
