The York Cathedral is particularly stunning for its late Gothic fan vaulted interior but the city has a particularly Medieval flavor from the wall that surrounds the old section.  We were fortunate to be in the cathedral when the Cardinal of Canterbury was visiting.  Our grandfather, Thomas Terry, originated from just north of here in Guisborough before immigrating to South Carolina by 1790.
