Notre Dame Cathedral

"Notre Dame Cathedral from the banks of the Seine", ©1999
watercolor, 8.25" x 11.75" inches

Notre Dame Cathedral sits on an island in the middle of the Seine River. This island is in nearly the geographical center of Paris. Although built in the 12c the cathedral's location was a religious site during the Roman era and the site of the pagan temple.

The city of Paris is the capital of France. As the seat of its government it is also the protector of its nations most valuable art. The several museums within its borders make it a destination that draws the world's artists. Museums that must be visited are La Louvre, Museé d'Orsay, Museé‚ Picasso, La Marmaton, L'Orangerie, Museé Rodin but to name a few.
