"Jefferson Memorial with Cherry Trees" The Jefferson Memorial was
started by Theodore Roosevelt and designed by John
Russell Pope in 1935. It was officially dedicates
on April 13, 1943, the 200th Anniversary of Thomas
Jefferson's birthday. A standing 19 foot figure is in
the center of the building which weighs 10,000 pounds. |
