Mount Vernon, Virginia
"Mount Vernon" George Washington's home
was actually started by his father with a house about
half the size of what we see. George added on and
redesigned it to its present form From here there
is a spectacular view of the Potomac River. The
original plantation had a couple of thousand acres and
was run with a considerable population of slaves.
It is maintained as a historical location by its
foundation.
