This is the place where the debates were held about the Declaration of Independence and the United State Constitution.  It was originally built between 1732 and 1753 as a state house for the Province of Pennsylvania.  The "Liberty Bell" which used to be in the tower was removed to a separate Liberty Bell Center just across the street.
